Sunday, August 05, 2007– The Hyland Hills Hockey Association and Colorado Outlaws
have established an Affiliation Agreement with B&B Sports, LLC. As part of the agreement,
the Junior team will play under the name of the Colorado Outlaws in the Western States
Hockey League (WSHL) that was recently granted Junior A, Tier III status.
The Colorado Outlaws are the first Junior A team in the state of Colorado and is part of
a growing expansion of Junior teams towards the western half of the U.S.A. The goals of the
Colorado Outlaws Junior A team is to provide an opportunity for all Colorado hockey players
to continue to develop and pursue their goals towards college and beyond. These goals are
consistent with those established by the HHHA for the Colorado Outlaws AAA program and
complete the development path from AA and AAA to Junior hockey.
Scott Sheehan, President of the HHHA said, “Colorado players are making Junior teams all
over the country to include an unprecedented number going to the USHL and NAHL this past
year. With 25-30 Colorado players playing Division I hockey and even more playing Division
III and ACHA, we are clearly seeing the results of the combined efforts of the youth hockey
organizations in Colorado. The timing is now for Junior hockey in Colorado and we believe
the Outlaws are just the start for 2-3 teams in Colorado. We are very excited to be part
of a team leading the way.”
The Colorado Outlaws Junior team will play and practice at a combination of rinks in the
northern half of Colorado to include the Ice Centre at the Promenade. Other rinks include or
potentially include Superior Ice, Greeley Ice Haus, and the APEX Ice Arena. Bruce Victor, of
B&B Sports said, “We want to the Outlaws to be represented by the greatest number of
Colorado players as possible, so we are working towards a schedule that allows are team
to be seen by as many youth players as we can.”
The WSHL includes teams from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arizona, California, Nevada and
now Colorado. The Outlaws will play a 48 game schedule with 24 games in Colorado from
September to March.
Jeremy Chatman, Head Coach for the Colorado Outlaws Junior A team, said, “We have been
working for months to get ready for our inaugural season and I can’t wait to get started.”
Chatman added, “There are a number of players with Junior ambitions, but are not ready or
willing to leave Colorado for a variety of reasons to include attending Colorado colleges.
The Outlaws give them an opportunity to pursue both ambitions. I can’t thank our ownership
group of B&B Sports enough for making this possible for Colorado hockey players.”
The Outlaws will open the season as host to the San Antonio Diablos for a 3-game series at
the Promenade on September 14, 7:00 PM, 9/15 at 3:45 PM and 9/16 at 12:15 PM.
